SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing: Genesis 12:2 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Almighty God (YHWH) made a promise to Abraham because he had done what was asked of him per Genesis 12:1, “Now Jehovah said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto the land that I will show thee:” Which clearly shows that He rewards those who obey him. (Genesis 12:3-4).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
And Moses said, This shall be, when Jehovah shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that Jehovah heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah. Exodus 16:8 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Almighty God (YHWH) had Bible writers record accounts of the shortcomings of men whom he had commissioned to show that He can use imperfect men to lead his people. In fact, He has always done this. Hence, we should not use the imperfections of those who take the lead among us today as an excuse to murmur against them or to ignore the authority.
Obedience to those who today are taking the lead among us is vital. Think of how Almighty God (YHWH) communicated with his people during critical times in the past. When the people of Israel left ancient Egypt, God’s orders for them came through Moses and Aaron. To survive the tenth plague, the Israelites had to obey the instructions to have a special meal and to splash some of the blood of a slaughtered sheep on the doorposts and lintels of their houses. That direction did not come to them by means of a voice out of heaven. No, they had to listen to the older men of Israel, who in turn received specific instructions from Moses. (Exodus 12:1-7, 2-23, 29) In those circumstances, Moses and the older men acted as bearers of Jehovah’s instructions to his people.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ: Colossians 2:8 [American Standard Version; ASV]
The Apostle Paul, a spiritual shepherd, wrote the above to his brothers in Colossae. This warning as well as the Apostle Peter’s warning of ‘false prophets’ and ‘false teachers’ who would try to, “But there arose false prophets also among the people, as among you also there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1, and “having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; enticing unstedfast souls; having a heart exercised in covetousness; children of cursing;” 2 Peter 2:14. We must guard against being mislead by such ones.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I myself, even I, will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. Ezekiel 34:11 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Here Almighty God (YHWH) compares himself to a shepherd. This is significant as it helps us to understand what He is like. A loving human shepherd takes full responsibility for the survival and welfare of the flock of sheep under his care; likewise Almighty God (YHWH) does so for his true followers. (Ezekiel 34:12-15). He leads them to pasture and to water sources, (Psalms 21:1-2); watches over them by day and by night (Luke 2:8): protects them from predators (1 Samuel 17:34-35); carries the newborn (Isaiah 40:11); searches for strays, and cares well for sheep that are injured, (Ezekiel 34:16).

having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and unjust Acts 24:15 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Dead ones will be resurrected to life with the prospect of never dying again. All those sleeping in death who are in Almighty God’s memory will be brought back to life. In fact, “Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice, 29 and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.” John 5:28-29.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Pay back, therefore, Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.—Matt. 22:21.
What sort of “things” do we owe Caesar, that is, the governmental authorities? When Jesus uttered those words, the discussion centered on taxes. So to maintain a clean conscience before God and men, Christians obey the laws of the land, including those pertaining to the paying of taxes. (Rom. 13:5, 6) But we recognize that Jehovah is the Supreme Sovereign, the only true God, whom we love with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Mark 12:30; Rev. 4:11) We therefore render to Jehovah God submission without reservation. (Ps. 86:11, 12) Many countries offer social programs or services to help those in need of material support. There is nothing wrong with a Christian’s receiving such assistance—provided that he qualifies. Speaking truth with our neighbor would rule out giving false or misleading information to governmental authorities in order to receive public assistance.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Remove vexation from your heart, and ward off calamity from your flesh; for youth and the prime of life are vanity.—Eccl. 11:10.
“O youth, enjoy yourself while you are young! Let your heart lead you to enjoyment in the days of your youth.” (Eccl. 11:9, Tanakh—The Holy Scriptures) So wrote wise King Solomon of ancient Israel. The Originator of this message, Jehovah God, certainly wants you youths to be happy. More than that, Jehovah wants your joy to last beyond the time of youth. However, those days of youth are often marred by painful mistakes that may affect a person’s future happiness. Even faithful Job bemoaned having to face “the consequences of the errors of [his] youth.” (Job 13:26) During adolescence and the following early years of life, a young Christian often has to make weighty decisions. Bad judgment can leave deep emotional scars and create problems that may affect the rest of his life.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
He went throwing the camp of the Egyptians into confusion. And he kept taking wheels off their chariots so that they were driving them with difficulty.—Ex. 14:24, 25.
Compared with Pharaoh’s military forces in their war chariots, the Israelites moved at a ponderous pace. Yet, there was no possibility that the Egyptians would overtake them, for Jehovah was fighting for Israel. Once all Israel was safely ashore on the other side of the Red Sea, Jehovah directed Moses: “Stretch your hand out over the sea, that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, their war chariots and their cavalrymen.” As the soldiers tried to flee the onrushing waters, “Jehovah shook the Egyptians off into the midst of the sea.” There was no escape. “Not so much as one among them was let remain.” (Ex. 14:26-28) Jehovah thus showed that he has the power to deliver his people from any situation.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
You husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with [your wives] . . . assigning them honor.—1 Pet. 3:7.
How can a husband exercise his authority and at the same time treat his wife as someone worthy of honor? One way a husband can honor his wife is by carefully considering her point of view and her feelings before he makes decisions that affect the family. Perhaps a decision has to be made regarding a move or a change of job or regarding everyday matters, such as where to take a vacation or how to adjust the family budget so as to cope with the rising cost of living. Because the family will be affected, it would be beneficial and kind for the husband to consider his wife’s opinion, as it may help him to arrive at a balanced, more considerate decision, and it will be easier for her to support him. (Prov. 15:22) Christian husbands who honor their wives gain not only the love and respect of their wives but, more important, the approval of Jehovah.—Eph. 5:28, 29.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: Yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and he shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 37:10-11) [American Standard Version; ASV]
When Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) kingdom that we pray for in Matthew 6:9-10, “After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth,” peace will exist because Almighty God will make wars cease to the ends of the earth. (Psalms 46:9). And then “In his days shall the righteous flourish, And abundance of peace, till the moon be no more,” Psalm 72:7.
