Control Of Women Takes Precedence Over Love In Muslim Families
INTRODUCTION:
Many males in Islam give precedence controlling women in their family over love of family as shown by case after case of so called ‘honor killings.’ However, the inspired word of Almighty God (YHWH), the Bible, puts love above all else as shown by 1 John 4:8 and 4:16 as follows, “8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.†And “16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.â€
But absolute control over women clearly takes precedence over love in many Muslim families as clearly revealed in the case of Noor Almaleki who was murdered by her own father just because she wanted her individual freedom, a basic human right, and NOT because she had committed any grievous wrong and/or sin. This was clearly reported in great length by the New Times of Broward and Palm Beach in their April 1-7, 2010 issue, Volume 13, Number 27 on pages 11 to 15 in an article based on the research by investigative reporter Paul Rubin in an article “Honor Thy Father.†The article was based on police records and interviews obtained at the scene of the crime in Arizona.
THE REALITY:
Noor, 20 years old, had moved out of her family home in Glendale, Arizona so she could live her own life and NOT be rigidly controlled by her father like she were a slave with no rights whatsoever. She moved in with a family who was her friend, Amal Edan Kahalaf a 43 year old mother.
Her father tracked her down with the intent of murdering her since she refused to be a slave to his unrighteous will. He finally found her while she was inside the office of the Department of Economic Security in Peoria, Arizona. She was there with her friend Amal Edan Kahalaf to assist her with filling out forms as Amal did not know English very well.
When she finally came out of the office with Amal, her Muslim father, Faleh Almaleki used his jeep to run her down and to seriously injure her friend Amal. Amal lived, but in a few days Noor succumbed to injuries received – murder of daughter pure and simple.
Her father then fled to México and from there to England, where he was arrested as a wanted fugitive and sent back to the USA.
EXPERT’S COMMENT:
“Riffat Hassan, a retired University of Louisville professor and expert on the Koran (Qur’an), tells ‘New Times, “Muslim culture has reduced many, if not most, women to the position of puppets on a string, to slave-like creatures whose only purpose in life is to cater to the needs and pleasures of men.†â€
By moving in with Amal, Noor had made it clear that she would NOT be her father’s puppet, his ‘slave like’ creature, but she was determined to live how, and with whom she wished – to be a free person. Many Muslim cultures, including that of the Almalekis endorse ancient Islamic methods of ‘cleansing’ a family of females that will NOT cower to the whims and pleasures of male members by taking the blood (lives) of daughters, sisters, and wives. In Islamic, Middle Eastern countries, there’s a name for the murders of females by male family members because it is so common, ‘honor killings.’ These murders of loved ones are a personal as it gets, usually committed with knives, machetes, by burying them alive, or by bare hands. One recent case in Turkey where the father and grand father of a 16 year old Islamic girl buried her alive after someone had reported that she had been speaking with boys – how absurd and awful. Of course no one can say exactly how many Muslim women and girls die this way ever year, but according to a 2006 U.N. news agency it was over 47 in Basara, a seaport city of 4 million in just 2006 alone – this only being the known cases in that city in Iraq.
‘HONOR KILLINGS’ IN WESTERN NATIONS:
In western lands, many such killings are reported, probably only a tenth or less of those actually occurring, as being committed by Islamic immigrants, many of whom have fled their native lands out of fear and lack of freedom. How absurd, the males want freedom for themselves, but do NOT want women to also have freedom. These male immigrants should NOT be allowed into western lands unless they agree to freedom also for their female family members.
In fact, five were actually accused of murdering female din in the USA from the start of 2008 to October 20, 2009 – the actual number in all probability was over 50, but many were NOT caught.
Noor’s murder “struck a nerve worldwide, especially after a county prosecutor officially attached the phrase ‘honor killing’ to it. To some, she would become a symbol of the ills said to infect Muslim culture, ills what would allow a father to slaughter a daughter with the blessing of at least some family members.
“the sad case captured the attention of Rana Husseini, an expert on honor killings. A reporter for the English language ‘Jordan Times’ and author of “Murder in the Name of Honor,†Husseini has written about dozens of such crimes in her homeland. “I wish that poor girl had been able to stay safe, maybe in a shelter or something,†Husseini says, “It’s such a waste of a life.â€
In Jordan and elsewhere in the Middle East, men committing such killings often receive lax punishment – sometimes getting sentenced to only months, if that, behind bars.†(page 15).
A Facebook page was created in Noor’s name after her death and received over 3,000 comments against this Muslim atrocity.
CONCLUSION AND COMMENT:
First, Most of Noor’s friends refused to comment on the case to the New Times reporter as they feared retaliation by the Almaleki family. Can you imagine this in a free land such as the USA. People such as the Almaleki family who have no respect for American law, nor genuine love for female family members should be barred from entry to the western world.
