Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

I actually do not know how to speak, for I am but a boy.—Jeremiah 1:6.

When Jehovah assigned Jeremiah to be His prophet, Jeremiah said the above. Later, he even said: “I shall speak no more in his name.” (Jer. 20:9) Yet, with Jehovah’s encouragement, Jeremiah was able to preach an unpopular message for 40 years. Jehovah repeatedly reassured him with the words: “I am with you, to save you and to deliver you.” (Jer. 1:8, 19; 15:20) Just as Jehovah strengthened Jeremiah, he can help us to do what he expects of Christians today. The key factor is to rely on God. The Bible says: “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart . . . In all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight.” (Prov. 3:5, 6) We reveal that we trust in Jehovah when we avail ourselves of the help he provides through his Word and through the congregation. If we allow Jehovah to guide our steps in life, nothing will prevent us from being faithful to him.

Re: Scripture of the Day

John 8:42 Jesus (Yeshua) said to them, " Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me." (Authorized King James Bible; AV).

Jesus (Yeshua) said he comes from God. The flesh cannot be speaking for the flesh was created. So Jesus (Yeshua)'s spiritual being came from God. Jesus (Yeshua) did not send himself, he did not come on his own, but before he was on earth, God sent him. Jesus (Yeshua) was sent by God into the world, so Jesus (Yeshua) is before the world with God.  He is referred to a Pr. 8:22-31, “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.  23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.  24  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.  25  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:  26  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.  27  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:  28  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:  29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:  30  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;  31  Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

inasmuch as he hath appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. Acts 17:31, [American Standard Version; ASV]

But before then, Almighty God (YHWH) is giving all sorts of people the opportunity to gain “an accurate knowledge of truth,” (per 1 Timothy 2:3 – 4) to act on that knowledge, and to be saved.  Precious lives are at stake.  If we are busy helping others to gain an accurate knowledge about God, the time remaining before the coming of Jehovah’s judgment will pass more quickly.  Soon – even suddenly – time will run out.  When it does, how glad we will be that we kept busy doing his will and telling others about Him.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of . . . the holy spirit.—Matt. 28:19.

Jehovah is the Source of holy spirit. He uses the spirit to open the hearts and minds of the bride class to understand his Word, the Bible. The spirit impels them to extend the invitation and explain Scriptural truths to those who have the prospect of living forever in Paradise on earth. What about those who accept the invitation, become disciples of Jesus Christ, and extend the invitation to still others? The spirit is involved in their case too. Having been baptized ‘in the name of the holy spirit,’ they cooperate with and rely on the spirit to help them. Think also of the message preached by the anointed and the growing great crowd. It comes from the Bible—the book written under the direct influence of God’s spirit. Thus, the invitation is extended by means of holy spirit. We are, in fact, directed by that spirit.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Make me know your own ways, O Jehovah; teach me your own paths. Make me walk in your truth.—Psalms 25:4, 5.

What if we simply lack motivation to do more in Jehovah’s service and are inclined to coast along in the congregation? Paul states: “God is the one that, for the sake of his good pleasure, is acting within you in order for you both to will and to act.” Yes, Jehovah can act within us and affect our will, or desires. (Phil. 2:13; 4:13) Should we not, then, ask Jehovah to make us want to do his will? King David of ancient Israel did just that, as shown in the words of today’s text. We can do the same by praying that Jehovah will make us want to do what pleases him. When we reflect upon how Jehovah God and his Son feel about what we do in serving their interests, our hearts are filled with appreciation for them. (Matt. 26:6-10; Luke 21:1-4) That feeling of gratitude can move us to beg Jehovah to make us want to make spiritual advancement.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

We became reconciled to God through the death of his Son.—Romans 5:10.

None of us have a natural father who could pass on to us life as it should be—perfect life. (1 Tim. 6:19) We were not born as sons of God because when the first human pair sinned, the human race was separated from its loving Father and Creator. (Compare Deuteronomy 32:5.) From that time onward, the world of mankind has lived outside Jehovah’s universal family, alienated from God. Nevertheless, as individuals we can request that God accept us into his family of approved servants. How is that possible for sinners such as we are? The apostle Paul answered with the words of today’s text. At baptism we make a request to God for a good conscience so as to be acceptable to him. (1 Pet. 3:21) Prior to baptism, however, there are steps we must take. We must get to know God, learn to trust him, repent, and change our ways.—John 17:3; Acts 3:19; Heb. 11:6.

Make me know your own ways, O Jehovah; teach me your own paths. Make me walk in your truth.—Psalms 25:4, 5.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

And for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when ye received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, ye accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also worketh in you that believe.  1 Thessalonians 2:13  [American Standard Version; ASV]

We should be giving thanks to Almighty God (YHWH) daily for his book of guidance for us, the Bible.  The Bible is NOT the product of one committee or strongman. It has over 40 individual writers who wrote under divine inspiration/guidance putting the thoughts of God (YHWH) into the words of men much as transcribing secretaries today taking transcription and then later typing it out. In other words one real author, God (YHWH), and many scribes each of whom wrote in his own style over a period of approximately 1,600 years. All of what people call or consider inconsistencies are really not such, but most often just a problem of translation and/or understanding, i.e., lack of understanding of what the original writer writing in his own language and culture meant/said in his original writing. What is remarkable, is the writers over such a period of time all wrote in harmony when even most posters on threads on this forum can not even stay on track or subject over a period of a few days and/or weeks at most with the original subject of the thread. This fact of harmony over a period so great as to almost stagger the imagination shows that it had one guiding force or author who divinely inspired its writers as humans of their own volition can not keep on track over short periods of time.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

According to the grace of God which was given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder I laid a foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let each man take heed how he buildeth thereon.  1 Corinthians 3:10  [American Standard Version; ASV]

This wonderful foundation that the Apostle Paul speaks of is none other than Jesus (Yeshua) Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)  Regarding foundations upon which men build upon, the Apostle Paul used this as an illustration of the end outcomes for various foundations, “But if any man buildeth on the foundation gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, stubble;  each man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man’s work of what sort it is.  If any man’s work shall abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward.  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as through fire.  Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:12-16.  This illustrates the need to build on a strong foundation for all genuine true Christians, and this secure foundation for our faith is Almighty God’s Son, Jesus.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.  2 Corinthians 11:14  [American Standard Version; ASV]

The Apostle Paul wrote this scripture under divine guidance to warn all Christians of the dangers existing from, “…false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.”  2 Corinthians 11:13  As in his day, these same dangers exist today, and James, Jesus’ half brother, wrote, “Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4.  As a clear warning to all genuine true followers of Jesus (Yeshua) Christ to NOT get tangled up in the wicked affairs of this world that Satan the Devil has set-up to trap the unwary.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Know also this, that in the last days shall come dangerous times.  2 Timothy 3:1  (Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible: DRCB)

It is good to note that Paul introduced the prophecy about the last days with the expression, ‘know…this.’  Those words guarantee that what follows is certain to occur.  There is no doubt that ungodly society will continue to advance from bad to worse until Almighty God (YHWH) steps in to end it.  Historians have documented that here or there some society or nation experienced a steep moral decline and then collapsed.  Never before in history, though, has the overall morality of the entire world deteriorated to the extent that is has now.  Many people may ignore the implications, but this unique development since 1914 should clearly demonstrate to us that we can trust that Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) Kingdom will soon take decisive action.
