Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Be careful! Do not do that! All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers.—Rev. 22:9.

Jehovah’s angels provide us with fine examples of humble service. Certain angels refused to disclose their names to humans. (Gen. 32:29; Judg. 13:17, 18) Although there are millions of spirit creatures in heaven, the Bible reveals the names of only Michael and Gabriel. This may serve as a safeguard against our giving angels undue honor. (Luke 1:26; Rev. 12:7) Our worship, including our prayers, should go only to God. (Matt. 4:8-10) The angels also set an example in patience. Though they are intensely interested in knowing God’s sacred secrets, they are not privy to all of them. “Into these very things angels are desiring to peer,” states the Bible. (1 Pet. 1:12) So, what do they do? They wait patiently until God’s due time for his “diversified wisdom” to “be made known through the congregation.”—Eph. 3:10, 11.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave you.—Ephesians 4:32.

Paul described Christlike love this way: “Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up.” (1 Cor. 13:4) Rather than holding grudges against our brothers and sisters, may we heed the admonition of today’s text. Our striving to cultivate and show Christlike kindness at all times and in every situation brings us rich rewards. Jehovah’s spirit will be able to operate freely in the congregation, producing the spirit’s good fruitage. In addition, when we follow the pattern Jesus left and help others to do the same, our happy, united worship will bring joy to God himself. Therefore, let us constantly strive to reflect Jesus’ mildness and kindness in our dealings with others.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

The Rock, his work is perfect; For all his ways are justice: A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, Just and right is he.  Deuteronomy 32:4  [American Standard Version; ASV]

Almighty God (YHWH) is not driven by blind emotion as humans often are.  Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) condemns unbridled rage, cruelty, and violence as testified to at Genesis 49:6 - 7, “O my soul, come not thou into their council; Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self–will they hocked an ox.  7  Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; And their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel.” [AV], and Psalm 11:5, “Jehovah trieth the righteous; But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.” [AV] .  So Almighty God (YHWH) never acts without reason.  He uses his destructive power sparingly and as a last resort.  It is as he stated through his prophet Ezekiel, ““‘Do I take any pleasure at all in the death of a wicked person?’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Do I not prefer that he turn away from his ways and keep living?’”  Ezekiel 18:23  [New World Translation Revised: NWTr].

Why, then, does Almighty God (YHWH) use destructive power?   Before answering, we might call to mind the righteous man Job.  Satan challenged whether Job – really, any human – would keep his integrity under trial.  Almighty God (YHWH) answered that challenge by allowing Satan to test Job’s integrity.  As a result, Job suffered illiness, loss of wealth, and loss of his children. (Job 1:1 – 28).  Unaware of the issues involved, Job mistakenly concluded that his suffering was unjust punishment from Almighty God (YHWH).  He asked God why He had made him a ‘target,’  ‘an enemy.’  (Job 7:20, 13:24).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Thou art fairer than the children of men; Grace is poured into thy lips: Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.  Psalm 45:2  [American Standard Version; ASV]

While the Bible says very little about Jesus”  (Yeshua’s) physical appearance.  Undoubtedly, as a perfect man, he was good looking.  However, his outstanding qualities came from his faithfulness to Almighty God (YHWH), and his unbending integrity.  In addition, Jesus (Yeshua) used ‘gracious speech’ when he preached the message of the Kingdom. (Luke 4:22, John 7:46)  Do we personally endeavor to follow His example in our speaking to others with respect biblical things?  Do we try to use words that will reach people’s heart?  (Colossians 4:6).

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?  John 13:12  [American Standard Version; ASV]

This Jesus (Yeshua) Christ did to show his disciples the need to show humility when they were being preoccupied with the question of who among them would become the greatest in the Kingdom.  (John 13:13-15)  He instead of losing patience with them, continued to teach his disciples and to give them loving counsel about manifesting humility.  (Luke 9:46-48, 22, 24-27)  By washing their feet, Jesus (Yeshua) Christ provided an object leson in humility, a quality that all genuine followers of His need to develop and display.  As per 1 Peter 2:21, “For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:”

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Women [should] adorn themselves in well-arranged dress, with modesty and soundness of mind.—1 Timothy 2:9.

Women who are modest and sound in mind in their choice of dress and grooming, as well as in other areas of their personal life, set excellent examples. (1 Tim. 3:11) This principle applies to Christian men too. Paul admonished overseers to be “moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly.” (1 Tim. 3:2) When we display these qualities in our daily activities, our advancement will be made manifest to all. When Paul told Timothy to be exemplary in chasteness, he was alluding to a very specific area of conduct, that of sexual morality. Especially in Timothy’s dealings with women was his conduct to be above reproach. He was to treat “older women as mothers, younger women as sisters with all chasteness.” (1 Tim. 4:12; 5:2) Even acts of immorality that might seem to be secret are known to God and are certain to become known to fellow humans eventually.—1 Tim. 5:24.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

I must declare the good news of the kingdom of God.—Luke 4:43.

Why did Jesus make God’s Kingdom the main theme of his ministry? He knew that he himself as King of that Kingdom, along with his resurrected spirit-begotten brothers, would deal with the root causes of mankind’s woes—sin and the Devil. (Rom. 5:12; Rev. 20:10) Hence, he commanded his followers to proclaim that Kingdom until the end of the present system of things. (Matt. 24:14) People who merely profess to be followers of Christ do not engage in this work—in fact, they cannot. Why? For at least three reasons: First, they cannot preach what they do not understand. Second, most of them lack the humility and courage needed to face the ridicule and opposition that may result from sharing the Kingdom message with their neighbors. (Matt. 24:9; 1 Pet. 2:23) And third, false Christians do not have God’s spirit.—John 14:16, 17.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;  Colossians 1:15   [American Standard Version; ASV]

In his Word (Jesus), Almighty God (YHWH) provides the most intimate revelation of himself through his beloved Son, Jesus (Yeshua) Christ.  No one could reflect His thinking and feelings more closely or explain Him more vividly that His Son, Jesus (Yeshua) Christ  did.  After all that first born Son existed along side his Father before the other spirit creatures were created and he used him as His master worker in creating all else as shown by Proverbs 8:22-31, “Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of his way, Before his works of old.  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was.  When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water.  Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.  When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,  When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong,  When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth;  then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him,   Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.” [ASV].   This is also affirmed at Colossians 1:16, “for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him;”  [ASV]

Jesus (Yeshua) was intimately acquainted with his Father, Almighty God (YHWH).  That is why he could say:  “All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth who the Son is, save the Father; and who the Father is, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him.”  (Luke 10:22)  [ASV] .

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’  Matthew 6:13  [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]

Yes, we all know that we originate with Almighty God (YHWH), but 1 John 5:19 warns, “We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” [NWTr].  Further emphasizing this fact.   The loving protection made possible by Almighty God (YHWH) is well-illustrated by what occurred after he rescued the Israelites from Egyptian bondage and miraculously protected them as they crossed the Red Sea in 1513 B.C.E. After trekking through the wilderness toward Mount Sinai, the nation arrived at Rephidim.
