SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.—1 John 2:15.
The world and its fleshly spirit stand in opposition to Jehovah and his holy spirit. Hence, Christ’s true followers do not merely refrain from being a part of the world. They reject it at heart, knowing that as the disciple James wrote, “friendship with the world is enmity with God.” (Jas. 4:4) It can be a challenge to heed James’ words in a world that offers countless temptations. (2 Tim. 4:10) Jesus therefore prayed in behalf of his followers: “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.” (John 17:15, 16) Ask yourself: ‘Do I strive to be no part of the world? Do others know my stand on unscriptural celebrations and customs as well as on those that may not have a pagan origin but clearly reflect the spirit of the world?’—2 Cor. 6:17; 1 Pet. 4:3, 4.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]
Then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him, Proverbs 8:30 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Since Jesus is the Master Worker, whom Almighty God (YHWH) used to create the earth and all life on it, he fully understands the makeup of the earth. He knows how to use its resources properly. Under his rule, this entire earth will be turned into Paradise.—Luke 23:43.
The powerful works that Jesus (Yeshua) performed on earth were just foregleams of even grander blessings to come under his kingly rule. In God’s new world, Jesus will once again work miracles—but on a global scale! Consider some of the thrilling prospects ahead. Jesus will restore the earth’s ecology to perfect balance. Recall that he demonstrated control of natural forces by calming a windstorm. Surely, then, under Christ’s Kingdom rule, mankind will have no need to fear being harmed by typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or other natural disasters.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]
There will be an abundance of grain on the earth; On the top of the mountains it will overflow. His fruit will flourish as in Leb?a·non, And in the cities people will blossom like the vegetation of the earth. Psalms 72:16 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
What about mankind’s needs? Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) ability to feed thousands bountifully, using only a few meager provisions, assures us that his rule will bring freedom from hunger. Indeed, an abundance of food, distributed fairly, will end hunger forever. His mastery over sickness and disease tells us that sick, blind, deaf, maimed, and lame people will be healed—completely and permanently. (Isaiah 33:24; 35:5, 6) His ability to resurrect the dead ensures that his mightiness as a heavenly King includes the power to resurrect the countless millions whom his Father is pleased to remember.—John 5:28, 29.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
A true companion is loving all the time, and is a brother that is born for when there is distress.—Proverbs 17:17.
When composing those words, Solomon may have had in mind the friendship that his father, David, enjoyed with Jonathan. (1 Sam. 18:1) King Saul wanted his son Jonathan to inherit the throne of Israel. But Jonathan accepted the fact that Jehovah had chosen David for this privilege. Unlike Saul, Jonathan did not become envious of David. He did not resent the praise David received, nor did he swallow the slander that Saul spread about David. (1 Sam. 20:24-34) Are we like Jonathan? When our friends receive privileges, are we happy for them? When they suffer hardships, do we comfort and support them? If we hear harmful gossip about a friend, are we quick to believe it? Or, like Jonathan, do we loyally defend our friend?

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works. John 14:9 – 10 [American Standard Version; ASV]
As we reflect on the power of Jesus, let us keep in mind that this Son perfectly imitates his Father. Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) use of power thus gives us a clear picture of how Jehovah uses power. For example, think about the tender way that Jesus healed a certain leper. Moved with pity, Jesus touched the man and said: “I want to.” (Mark 1:40-42) By means of accounts such as this, Jehovah is, in effect, saying, ‘That is how I use my power!’ Are you not moved to praise our almighty God and give thanks that he uses his power in such a loving way?

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth; Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:12 [American Standard Version; ASV]
Yes, Almighty God (YHWH) is per Exodus 34:6, “And Jehovah passed by before him, and proclaimed, Jehovah, Jehovah, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth;” [ASV] For this reason, Jehovah is never abusive or cruel. Neither does he resort to harsh words, constant criticism, or hurtful sarcasm, all of which can injure (Proverbs 12:18).
Therefore, Use Bible-Based discipline when necessary with a child…
* Loving: Effective discipline is founded on love, not anger. When faced with a particularly difficult situation, postpone discipline until you are calm.
* Reasonable: Endeavor to take into account all the circumstances, including the child’s limitations and abilities.
* Consistent: If you have warned your child that a certain form of discipline will result if he misbehaves, be sure to follow through.
If you imitate Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) loving, reasonable, and consistent discipline, you can be certain that your efforts will benefit your children. Your loving direction may help your children to develop into mature, responsible, and balanced adults. As the Bible says at Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it.” [ASV].

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
Let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains.—Luke 21:21.
During their flight from Jerusalem, Christians needed to show Christlike love for one another, even as Christ had shown love for them. They surely had to share whatever they had with one another. But Jesus’ prophecy reached far beyond the razing of that ancient city. He foretold: “There will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.” (Matt. 24:17, 18, 21) Before and during that “great tribulation” yet ahead, we too may face hardships and deprivations. Having Christ’s mental attitude will help us to get through them. At that time, we will need to follow Jesus’ example, showing unselfish love. In this connection, Paul counseled: “Let each of us please his neighbor in what is good for his upbuilding. For even the Christ did not please himself . . . Have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had.”—Rom. 15:2, 3, 5.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him.1 John 3:15 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
Having respect for life includes having the right view of fellow humans. If we want everlasting life, we need to root out of our heart any hatred for our fellowman, because hatred is the root cause of most violence, as shown thistly, “For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother. And for what reason did he slaughter him? Because his own works were wicked, but those of his brother were righteous.” Per 1 John 3:11, 12 [NWTr] Therefore, It is vital that we learn to love one another.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]
I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh; for just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and lawlessness leading to lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. Romans 6:19 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
What about showing respect for our own life? People normally do not want to die, but some risk death for the sake of pleasure. For example, many use tobacco, chew betel nut, or take drugs for recreational purposes. Such substances harm the body and often kill the users. A person who makes it a practice to use these substances does not view life as sacred. These practices are unclean in God’s eyes. (Romans 12:1; 2 Corinthians 7:1) To serve God acceptably, we have to give up such practices. Although doing so might be very hard, Jehovah can give us the needed help. And he appreciates the effort we make to treat our life as a precious gift from him.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]
Jehovah examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one; He hates anyone who loves violence. Psalms 11:5 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
If we have respect for life, we will keep in mind the need to be safety conscious. We will not be careless and will not take risks just for pleasure or excitement. We will avoid reckless driving and violent or dangerous sports. God’s law for ancient Israel stated: “In case you build a new house [with a flat roof], you must also make a parapet [or, low wall] for your roof, that you may not place bloodguilt upon your house because someone falling might fall from it.” (Deuteronomy 22:8) In harmony with the principle set out in that law, keep such things as stairs in good condition in your home so that someone does not trip, fall, and get badly hurt. If you own a car, make sure that it is safe to drive. Do not let either your home or your car be a danger to you or to others.
