SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
[Jesus] continued in retirement in the deserts and praying.—Luke 5:16.
Jesus often withdrew from the crowds in order to pray to his Father privately. (Matt. 14:13; Luke 6:12) We have the same need for solitude. In calm prayer under peaceful conditions, we are likely to make decisions that please Jehovah and are in our best spiritual interests. However, Jesus also prayed publicly. At our meetings, loyal men represent the congregation in public prayer. (1 Tim. 2:8) Fellow believers should be able to say “amen,” meaning “so be it,” at the end of such a prayer. To do so, however, they must agree with what was said. There is nothing shocking or tactless about Jesus’ model prayer. (Luke 11:2-4) Moreover, he did not itemize all the needs or problems of each person in his audience. Personal concerns are suitable subjects for private, not public, prayer. And when representing a group in prayer, we should refrain from including confidential matters.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
Jehovah examines the righteous one as well as the wicked one; He hates anyone who loves violence. Psalms 11:5 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
If we have respect for life, we will keep in mind the need to be safety conscious. We will not be careless and will not take risks just for pleasure or excitement. We will avoid reckless driving and violent or dangerous sports. God’s law for ancient Israel stated: “In case you build a new house [with a flat roof], you must also make a parapet [or, low wall] for your roof, that you may not place bloodguilt upon your house because someone falling might fall from it.” (Deuteronomy 22:8) In harmony with the principle set out in that law, keep such things as stairs in good condition in your home so that someone does not trip, fall, and get badly hurt. If you own a car, make sure that it is safe to drive. Do not let either your home or your car be a danger to you or to others.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. Proverbs 12:10 [American Standard Version; ASV]
What about the life of an animal? That too is sacred to the Creator. God permits the killing of animals to obtain food and clothing or to protect people from danger. (Genesis 3:21; 9:3; Exodus 21:28) However, being cruel to animals or killing them just for sport is wrong and shows utter disregard for the sacredness of life.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
No, but he emptied himself and took a slave’s form and became human. Philippians 2:7 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
As a human, Jesus (Yeshua) reflected the invisible God. Jesus not only talked about his Father, but also showed us what Almighty God (YHWH) is like. Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) disciple Philip asked, “Philip said to him: “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father also. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’?” John 14:8 – 9 [NWTr]. Now what can you ‘see’ about the Father through Jesus” (Yeshua’s) actions?
Jesus (Yeshua) was warm, humble, and approachable (Matthew 11:28 – 30). His refreshing personality drew people to him. Jesus (Yeshua) felt the pain others felt, and he shared their joys (Luke 10:17 & 21).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]
Jehovah is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?—Hebrews 13:6.
In our day, as in times past, the truth continues to divide people. Some respond favorably, while others neither understand nor appreciate our form of worship. Some criticize, ridicule, or even hate us, just as Jesus foretold. (Matt. 10:22) At times, we are the target of misinformation and malicious propaganda through the media. (Ps. 109:1-3) In this world alienated from God, it takes boldness to preach as Jesus did. What will help you to do so? Look to the future. Keep strong your love of God and neighbor. Pray to Jehovah for courage. Always remember, you are never on your own, for Jesus is with you. (Matt. 28:20) Holy spirit will strengthen you. And Jehovah will bless and support you. Therefore, may we be of good courage and say the words of today’s text.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]
Let anyone that wishes take life’s water free.—Rev. 22:17.
An open invitation has been extended to humans by means of holy spirit. The invitation is to “come” and satisfy one’s thirst with a very special type of water. It is not ordinary water composed of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. Though literal water is essential for sustaining life on earth, Jesus had in mind a different type of water when he said to a Samaritan woman at a well: “Whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty at all, but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life.” (John 4:14) The extraordinary water that humans are invited to partake of imparts everlasting life. The water of life represents all of God’s provisions for recovering obedient humans from sin and death and giving them unending perfect life in Paradise on earth.—1 John 4:9, 10.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]
He asked them: “What things?” They said to him: “The things concerning Jesus the Naz·a·rene?, who proved to be a prophet powerful in deed and word before God and all the people; Luke 24:19 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
Jesus was also “powerful in work.” (The Gospels report over 30 specific miracles performed by him—all per Luke 5:17, “On one of those days while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the Law who had come out of every village of Gali·lee and Ju·dea and from Jerusalem were sitting there; and Jehovah’s power was with him to do healing.” [NWTr] Jesus’ miracles touched the lives of thousands. Just two miracles—the feeding of 5,000 men and later 4,000 men “besides women and young children”—involved crowds probably totaling some 20,000 people!—Matthew 14:13-21; 15:32-38.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
I do indeed also consider all things to be loss on account of the excelling value of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. On account of him I have taken the loss of all things and I consider them as a lot of refuse.—Philippians 3:8.
Prior to his becoming a Christian, the apostle Paul was being groomed for success in the Jewish system of things. When he was likely no more than 13 years old, he moved from his native city of Tarsus to Jerusalem to study under the highly esteemed Law teacher Gamaliel. (Acts 22:3) In time, Paul began to stand out among his contemporaries, and had he continued in that course, he might have risen to prominence in Judaism. (Gal. 1:13, 14) When he accepted the good news and took up the preaching work, he left all of that behind. Did Paul regret the choice he had made? No, as the words of today’s text show. Like Paul, Christians today make sacrifices for the sake of the good news.—Mark 10:29, 30.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
And she made this vow: “O Jehovah of armies, if you look upon the affliction of your servant and remember me and you do not forget your servant and give to your servant a male child, I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and no razor will touch his head.” 1 Samuel 1:11 [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]
Nearly three hundred times in the Hebrew Scriptures and twice in the Christian Greek Scriptures, God is given the title “Jehovah of armies.” Sovereign Ruler, Almighty God (YHWH) commands a vast army of angelic forces. (Joshua 5:13-15; 1 Kings 22:19) The destructive potential of this army is awesome. (Isaiah 37:36) The destruction of humans is not pleasant to contemplate. However, we must remember that God’s wars are unlike petty human conflicts. Military and political leaders may try to attribute noble motives to their aggression. But human war invariably involves greed and selfishness.
In contrast, Almighty God (YHWH) is not driven by blind emotion. Deuteronomy 32:4 declares: “The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; Righteous and upright is he.” [NWTr] God’s Word condemns unbridled rage, cruelty, and violence. (Genesis 49:7; Psalm 11:5) So Jehovah never acts without reason. He uses his destructive power sparingly and as a last resort. It is as he stated through his prophet Ezekiel: “‘Do I take any pleasure at all in the death of a wicked person?’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Do I not prefer that he turn away from his ways and keep living?’”—Ezekiel 18:23 [NWTr]

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
Because, a husband, is the head of his wife, as, the Christ also, is the head of the assembly, he, being the saviour of the body, Nevertheless, as, the assembly, submitteth herself unto the Christ, so, the wives, unto their husbands, in everything: Ephesians 5:23 – 24 [American Standard Version; ASV]
The Bible says that husbands should treat their wives in the same way that Jesus treats his disciples. In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation.”—(Ephesians 5:25 – 29).
Jesus’ love for his congregation of disciples sets a perfect example for husbands. Jesus “Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” (John 13:1 [ASV]) sacrificing his life for them, even though they were far from perfect. (John 15:13) Similarly, husbands are urged: “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.” (Colossians 3:19 [ASV]) What will help a husband to apply such counsel, especially if his wife at times fails to act with discretion? He should remember his own mistakes and what he must do to receive God’s forgiveness. What is that? He must forgive those who sin against him, and that includes his wife. Of course, she should do the same. (Matthew 6:12, 14, 15) Do you see why some have said that a successful marriage is the union of two good forgivers?
