SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:15 – 17 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
However to receive these blessings set before them, Adam and Eve would have to obey Jehovah and acknowledge his rulership as stated in the scripture. Only under those circumstances could they fulfill God’s purpose for them. Sadly, though, they were influenced by, “…the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.. ( Gen. 3:1-6, [AV]). How has this rebellion affected women? What was accomplished by godly women of the past? Why can present-day Christian women be referred to as “a large army”?—Ps. 68:11.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. Genesis 3:12 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
Now when called to account for his rebellion, Adam attempted to shift the blame for their disobedience to his wife, instead of taking responsibility for it. Thus, Adam not only failed to accept responsibility for his sin but also tried to place the blame on the woman God had given him—and on the loving Giver, Almighty God (YHWH)! Both Adam and Eve sinned, but Adam was held responsible for their wrongdoing. Hence, the apostle Paul wrote that “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:.”—Rom. 5:12.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
The first human pair were led to think that they did not need Jehovah as their Ruler. That raised this vital question of sovereignty: Who has the right to rule? To provide an answer for all eternity, God allowed rule independent of him to continue for a time. He knew that experience would prove that rule independent of him would fail. Over the centuries, such ruler-ship has plunged human society into one calamity after another. In the past century alone, about 100,000,000 people died in wars—and that includes millions of innocent men, women, and children. So there already is mounting evidence that man can not rule himself. Realizing that fact, we should acknowledge Jehovah as our Ruler since and therefore, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.. (Proverbs 3:5, 6. [AV])

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Revelation 14:6 – 7 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
Note, this angel says ‘fear God,’ would it not be important to identify which God he has in mind? The angel gives us a clue when he says that it is ‘the One who made the heaven and the earth.’ Who was that?” Then read (Psalm 124:8 [AV]), which says: “Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. 1 Corinthians 9:19 – 23 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
Notice that it was Paul’s hope “to gain Jews . . . , to gain those under law . . . , to gain those without law . . . , to gain the weak.” Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20:21 [AV]) How can we imitate Paul’s attitude as we prepare to share the truth with “all sorts of people” in our territory? (1 Tim. 2:3, 4)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
CAN you imagine how you would feel if you had to stand before the most powerful ruler on earth and speak up in behalf of Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) people? You would probably feel anxious, inadequate, and intimidated. How would you prepare your presentation? What could you do to add power to your words as a representative of the almighty God?
Moses was actually in this very position. Jehovah had told him, “Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth,” (Num. 12:3, [AV]) that he was being sent to Pharaoh to rescue God’s people from their oppression and slavery in Egypt. As events would prove, Pharaoh was a disrespectful and arrogant man. (Ex. 5:1, 2) Yet, Jehovah wanted Moses to order Pharaoh to let several million of his slaves leave the country! Understandably, Moses asked Jehovah: “Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.” (Exodus 3: 9 – 12 [AV]).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1 – 5 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
The behavior of men and women in general deteriorated after the rebellion in Eden, and during the past century, it has become worse than ever before. The Bible foretold that wicked conduct would prevail in “the last days.” Human wrongdoing has become so widespread that these truly are “critical times.” Throughout mankind’s history, however, the “Sovereign Lord Jehovah” has shown favor to men and women who have trusted in him, have obeyed his laws, and have submitted to him as their Ruler as shown by, Psalm 71:5, “For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.” [AV]

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. Jude 16 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
Years later, the God-fearing wives of faithful patriarchs also had God’s backing. That would not have been the case had they been complainers about their lot in life. It is hard to imagine that serious cries of complaint would have come from the lips of Abraham’s respectful wife, Sarah, when they left the comforts of Ur and became temporary residents living in tents in another land. Instead, “Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.” (1 Pet. 3:6, [AV]).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:11 [authorized King James Bible; AV]
It is wise to be cautious instead of believing everything you hear. As Proverbs 14:15 says, “The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.” [AV] In some ways, your caution could be compared to that of the ancient Beroeans. When they were first told about the good news of the Kingdom, the Beroeans accepted what they heard, but not simply because they wanted it to be true. Rather, they carefully examined the Scriptures to see whether these things were so. In other words, the Beroeans compared the good news that they heard with what the Scriptures say. In time, they became convinced that the good news was in fact solidly based on God’s Word.
