SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
We can gain insight into the way Jehovah views human weakness from an illustration recorded in Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. In chapter 12, Paul reminds us that even the least attractive or the weakest part of the human body has a function. Clearly 1 Corinthians 12:21 – 23, [AV], clearly show that Charles Darwin was wrong when he said, “when he described a number of body organs as ‘useless’ in his book, “The Descent Of Man, This scripture said, “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.” Findings in the study of anatomy show that body parts once considered useless actually do perform essential functions. For example, some have questioned the usefulness of the little toe; however, it is now recognized to have an impact on the balance of the whole body.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
In order to adjust our thinking to that of Jehovah’s, we should analyze our view of those who seem to be weak. For example, how do we react when a teenager does not exercise discretion in his choice of entertainment or when he displays a careless attitude? Instead of being overly critical, why not reflect on what we might do to help him grow to maturity? We can take the initiative to assist someone in need of help, and in doing so, we actually grow in understanding and love.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God. 1 Kings 19:5 – 8 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
We are also helped to broaden our view of others by comparing our thinking with Jehovah’s reaction to some of his servants who felt low in spirits. Elijah was one of them. Although he had fearlessly challenged 450 prophets of Baal, Elijah ran away from Queen Jezebel when he learned that she was plotting to kill him. After walking some 95 miles (150 km) to Beer-sheba, he went deep into the wilderness. Exhausted by this trek under the blazing sun, the prophet sat down under a tree and “asked that he might die.”—1 Kings 18:19; 19:1-4.
How did Jehovah feel when he looked down from heaven and saw his faithful prophet in despair? Did he reject his servant because he temporarily became depressed and lacked courage? Not at all! Jehovah took into account Elijah’s limitations and dispatched an angel. Twice the angel encouraged Elijah to eat. Thus, the next journey would not “be too much for [him].” Yes, even before giving any directions, Jehovah listened to his prophet and took practical measures to sustain him.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. James 2:15 – 17 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
How can we imitate our caring God? We should not be quick to offer advice. (Prov. 18:13) It would be better first to take the time to express our empathy to those who may think that they are “less honorable” because of their personal circumstances. (1 Cor. 12:23) Then we would be in a position to act appropriately, according to the true need.
For example, think of a women, whose husband has abandoned her and her daughters. They found them. That likely brings to your mind what James wrote as given above. We need to provide them with their physical needs in these troubling times, and not just tell them to depart in peace.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]
An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin. Proverbs 21:4 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4 – 8, [AV]) Jehovah is patient and kind toward all people even though they are imperfect. So we need to be patient and kind when others make mistakes, even if they are unkind or rude to us. The Bible says that “love is not jealous.” Some may have privileges or other things that we do not have. The Bible tells us that Jehovah hates those who have a greedy disposition.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Philippians 2:4 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
Love “Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;” ( 1 Corinthians 13:5, [AV]) If we show love for our neighbor, we will not lie to him or steal from him or do anything else that makes Jehovah unhappy. Also, we will not be selfish, because love does not look for its own interests. So we will always do what is best for our neighbor.
Love “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” (1 Thessalonians 5:15, [AV]) If someone does something unkind to us, we do not quickly become angry. We should not keep a record of all the times that a person hurts us. If we hold a grudge, our anger could burn like a fire, hurting ourselves and others. (Leviticus 19:18) Instead, we should forgive and forget. Love “Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.” (Proverbs 27:17 – 18, [AV]) If a person who hates us is treated unfairly, we are not happy to see him suffer.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: 1 Peter 3:15 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
Paul wrote that love “Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7, [AV]) When we love our neighbor, we will forgive him when he does something that upsets us. Paul also said that love “believes all things.” We believe what we read in the Bible and are thankful to be taught by Jehovah’s organization. We have hope because we trust in all the things that Jehovah has promised us. And because we love people, we will do our best to tell them about our hope. When we face very difficult situations, we pray and hope for the best results. Even if somebody sins against us or persecutes us, we endure. As Paul said, love “endures all things.” He also said: “Love never fails.” Those who are obedient to Jehovah will show love to their neighbor forever.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Matthew 22:39 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
If we follow the Bible’s counsel, we will always love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Jehovah and Jesus expect us to do this. We must love all people, no matter where they come from or what their culture is. Whenever it is difficult to show love for our neighbor, we can pray to Jehovah and ask for his holy spirit. We know this will please Jehovah, and he will help us.—Romans 8:26, 27. We should love all people, no matter where they come from or what their culture is.
The command to love our neighbor is so important that it is called “… the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:” (James 2:8, [AV]) In the Mosaic Law, Jehovah gave his people many commandments that taught them to love their neighbor. Later, Jehovah inspired Paul to write: “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law..’”—Romans 13:8-10, [AV]

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Proverbs 1:5 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
The true God directed men to write down his thoughts in one sacred book. That book is the Bible. Itcontains important information that God wants you to know. In fact that the Bible is NOT the product of one committee or strongman. It has over 40 individual writers who wrote under divine inspiration/guidance putting the thoughts of God (YHWH) into the words of men much as transcribing secretaries today taking transcription and then later typing it out. In other words one real author, God (YHWH), and many scribes each of whom wrote in his own style over a period of approximately 1,600 years. All of what people call or consider inconsistencies are really not such, but most often just a problem of translation and/or understanding, i.e., lack of understanding of what the original writer writing in his own language and culture meant/said in his original writing. What is remarkable, is the writers over such a period of time all wrote in harmony when even most posters on threads on this forum can not even stay on track or subject over a period of a few days and/or weeks at most with the original subject of the thread. This fact of harmony over a period so great as to almost stagger the imagination shows that it had one guiding force or author who divinely inspired its writers as humans of their own volition can not keep on track over short periods of time.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]
Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Deuteronomy 32:3 – 4 (Authorized King James Bible; AV)
Jehovah’s justice, like every other facet of his matchless personality, is perfect, not lacking in anything. Every expression of Jehovah’s justice is flawless—never too lenient, never too harsh.
There is a close connection between Jehovah’s justice and his mercy. Psalm 116:5 says: “Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful;” [AV] and our God is One showing mercy. Yes, Jehovah is both just and merciful. The two traits are not at odds. His exercising of mercy is not a watering down of his justice, as if his justice would otherwise be too severe. Rather, the two qualities are often expressed by him at the same time, even in the same act. Consider an example.
All humans are by inheritance sinful and thus deserving of sin’s penalty—death. (Romans 5:12) But Jehovah finds no pleasure in the death of sinners. He is “…thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.” (Nehemiah 9:17, [AV]) Still, because he is holy, he cannot condone unrighteousness. How, then, could he show mercy to inherently sinful humans? The answer is found in one of the most precious truths of God’s Word: Jehovah’s provision of a ransom for mankind’s salvation. By means of it, Jehovah can express tender mercy toward repentant sinners while maintaining his standards of perfect justice.—Romans 3:21-26.
