Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.   1 Corinthians 15:26  (Authorized King James Bible; AV)

WHEN they were created, Adam and Eve had no enemies whatsoever. They were perfect humans who lived in a paradise. They enjoyed a close relationship with their Creator as his son and daughter. (Gen. 2:7-9; Luke 3:38)  Their life prospects were indicated in the very commission God gave them. At Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” [AV]  could be accomplished in a certain amount of time. But to continue to ‘have in subjection every living creature that is moving on the earth,’ Adam and Eve would need to live forever, Adam never having to abdicate his oversight by dying.

However, unfortunately Adam did not get the opportunity to carry out this commission as he disobeyed by braking the command given to him at Genesis 2:16 – 17,  “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:   But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”  [AV] .

(Acts 5:42; 6:7) Some Christians, such as Philip, served as evangelizers and missionaries in Palestine. (Acts 8:5, 40; 21:8) Paul and others traveled farther afield. (Acts 13:2-4; 14:26; 2 Cor. 1:19) Some—for example, Silvanus (Silas), Mark, and Luke—also served as copyists or writers. (1 Pet. 5:12) Christian sisters worked along with these faithful brothers. (Acts 18:26; Rom. 16:1, 2) Their exciting experiences help to make the Christian Greek Scriptures a thrill to read and demonstrate that Jehovah remembers his servants favorably.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]

And Moses came and told the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the ordinances: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which Jehovah hath spoken will we do.    And Moses wrote all the words of Jehovah, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.    And he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt–offerings, and sacrificed peace–offerings of oxen unto Jehovah.    And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.     And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that Jehovah hath spoken will we do, and be obedient.   And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which Jehovah hath made with you concerning all these words.    Exodus 24:3 – 8   [American Standard Version; ASV]

As the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob multiplied into the millions, Almighty God (YHWH) made a nation out of them—the nation of ancient Israel. Through Moses, Jehovah concluded a unique national covenant with them by giving them the Law, and the nation of Israel agreed to the terms of that covenant.

The Law covenant went into effect at Mount Sinai in 1513 B.C.E. By means of that covenant, the ancient nation of Israel was set apart as God’s chosen nation. Jehovah now became ‘their Judge, their Lawgiver, and their King.’ (Isa. 33:22)   The history of Israel provides a record of what happens when God’s righteous standards are either observed or ignored. Since the Law forbade intermarrying with pagans and participation in false worship, it was designed to prevent Abraham’s line of descent from being contaminated.—Ex. 20:4-6;34:12-16.

Re: Scripture of the Day

COMBINATION OF SCRIPTURES OF THE DAY AND THE RARE FRUIT TREES AND VEGETABLES.     With the Scriptures of the Day being first.
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]

And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.   Exodus 19:6   [American Standard Version; ASV]

THE first prophecy recorded in the Bible is of great significance in the outworking of Almighty God’s (YHWH’s)  purpose.   When making the Edenic promise, the true God declared: “and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3:15,   [ASV] )   How intense would this enmity be? “He shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.,” said Jehovah.   The enmity between the serpent and the woman would be so fierce that Satan would spare no effort to obliterate her offspring.

It is no wonder that the psalmist cried out in prayer to God about His chosen people: “For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult; And they that hate thee have lifted up the head.   Thy take crafty counsel against thy people, And consult together against thy hidden ones.   They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.’” (Psalms 83:2-4,  [ASV])   The line of descent of the offspring of the woman had to be protected from extermination and contamination. To accomplish this, Jehovah made further binding legal arrangements that would protect the fulfillment of his purpose.

AND THE RARE FRUIT TREES AND VEGETABLES.

Here is a Commentary on Bountiful Trees and Vegetables God (YHWH) has provided for mankind, specifically the Karanda, Carissa carandas is a species of flowering shrub in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It produces berry-sized fruits that are commonly used as a condiment or additive to Indian pickles and spices. It is a hardy, drought-tolerant plant that thrives well in a wide range of soils. Common names include karonda , karamardhaka (Sanskrit), vakkay (Telugu), kalakai (Tamil), and also less common are karau(n)da, karanda, or karamda. It is called kerenda in Malaya, karaunda in Malaya and India; Bengal currant or Christ's thorn in South India; nam phrom, or namdaeng in Thailand; and caramba, caranda, caraunda and perunkila in the Philippines.[1] In Assam it is called Karja tenga.  (source - retrieved from   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carissa_carandas  on  1/17/2013)

Pictures of this evergreen tree can be viewed at  http://www.thelovelyplants.com/evergreen-shrub-for-lovely-gardens-carissa-carandas/

In Genesis 1:11-13, "And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after their kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. (American Standard Version, ASV)[for more details, go to  www.jw.org].

Distribution
It grows naturally in the Himalayas at elevations of 300 to 1800 meters, in the Siwalik Hills, the Western Ghats and in Nepal and Afghanistan. It flourishes well on lands with high temperatures. At present it is grown on a limited scale in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, regions in India. It is also found in the Sri Lanka lowland rain forests, an ecoregion.

Propagation
The plant is propagated through seed in August and September. Inarching and budding can also be practiced for vegetative propagation. Cuttings may also succeed. Planting is done with the first shower of monsoon at a depth of 1.5 meters. Plants raised from seed start bearing two years after planting. Flowering starts in March and the fruit ripens from July to September in North India.

Uses
The fruit is a rich source of iron and contains a fair amount of Vitamin C. It is an antiscorbutic and sometimes used for anaemia. Mature fruit contains pectin and so along being useful for making pickle, it is an ingredient in jelly, jam, syrup and chutney. Ripe fruits exude a white latex when severed from the branch.

The roots of the plant are heavily branched and make it suitable for stabilizing eroding slopes. (source - retrieved from   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carissa_carandas  on  1/17/2013)

The main driving force of water uptake and transport into a plant is transpiration of water from leaves through specialized openings called stomata.  Heat from the sun causes the water to evaporate, setting this ‘water chain’ in motion.  The evaporation creates a negative water vapor pressure.  Water is pulled into the leaf to replace the water that has transpired from the leaf.  This pulling of water, or tension, occurs in the xylem of the leaf.  Since the xylem is a continuous water column that extends from the leaf to the roots, this negative water pressure extends into the roots and results in water uptake from the soil.  [adapted from: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=follow-up-how-do-trees-ca ]

Clearly this clever water transport system shows a superior intelligence of the Creator (YHWH).

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]

For in him we live [Almighty God (YHWH)], and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 14:29  (Authorized King James Bible; AV)

Jehovah has given us our splendid earthly home. (Ps. 115:16)   He also provides food and other things we need in order to sustain our life. Therefore, Paul could tell the idolatrous residents of Lystra that “And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:   Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.   Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” (Acts 14:15-17,  [AV])   Is that not reason to love our Grand Creator and loving Provider?—Eccl. 12:1.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:  Romans 5:12  (Authorized King James Bible; AV)

God has made possible the removal of the sin and death we inherited from Adam.    Indeed, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom. 5:8, [AV]) Undoubtedly, our heart overflows with love for Jehovah because he has made it possible for us to receive forgiveness of our sins if we are repentant and exercise faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice. Per John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” [AV].

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.  Psalms 34:6  (Authorized King James Bible; AV)

Jehovah really cares for us as shown at Pslams 34:18 – 19,  [AV], “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.   Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”  and  1 Peter 5:6, 7., “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” [AV]   Because we know that our loving God is always ready to help those who are faithful to him, we feel secure as part of ‘the flock of his pasture.’ (Ps. 79:13) Moreover, God’s love for us will be evident in what he will accomplish in our behalf through the Messianic Kingdom. After his chosen King, Jesus Christ, rids the earth of violence, oppression, and wickedness, obedient mankind will be blessed with lasting peace and prosperity. (Ps. 72:7, 12-14, 16) Do you not agree that such prospects give us reason to love our caring God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind?—Luke 10:27.
