Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]

This, therefore, I say and bear witness to in [the] Lord, that YOU no longer go on walking just as the nations also walk in the unprofitableness of their minds, 18 while they are in darkness mentally, and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensibility of their hearts. 19 Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness. 20 But YOU did not learn the Christ to be so, 21 provided, indeed, that YOU heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus,  Ephesians 4:17-21.

It is important that we realize that Satan the Devil, the one who first disrupted universal peace, will strongly oppose our efforts to do Almighty God’s (YHWH) will.  No doubt Satan’s purposes are served as the divorce rate soars, marriage is dispensed with in favor of living together, and marriages between homosexuals are tolerated.  We do not pattern our behavior or attitudes after trends observed in modern society; Christ is our model as brought out in the scripture above.  Thus, we are admonished to at Ephesians 6:10-13, “Finally, go on acquiring power in [the] Lord and in the mightiness of his strength. 11 Put on the complete suit of armor from God that YOU may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil; 12 because we have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places. 13 On this account take up the complete suit of armor from God, that YOU may be able to resist in the wicked day and, after YOU have done all things thoroughly, to stand firm.”

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]

For he (Abraham)looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.  Hebrews 11:10  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Are you resolved to stand out as being different from this wicked world?   Granted, doing so is not always easy.   But with God’s help and with support from your fellow Christians, you can succeed.   Remember, you are not alone.   All who want to serve Almighty God (YHWH) have a fight on their hands! (Eph. 6:12)   Still, it is a fight we can win if we trust in Jehovah and make him our secure dwelling. Also, imitate Abraham by keeping your eyes on the prize. (2 Cor. 4:18)   The “city” that Abraham awaited proved to be the Messianic Kingdom.   Mounting evidence indicates that it will soon take full control of the earth.   Is that Kingdom real to you?   Does it influence your outlook on life, your view of the present world, and your priorities?—2 Pet. 3:11, 12.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Sunday]

But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.   Micah 4:4  [authorized King James Bible; AV]
In today’s world, adequate housing is a serious problem.   People are packed into crowded cities.   Many have to manage with makeshift dwellings in shantytowns and city slums.   Having a house of their own remains a mere dream for them.   Under God’s Kingdom rule, the desire of every resident to have his own home will be fulfilled, for it was prophesied through Isaiah: “And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.    They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands..” (Isa. 65:21 – 22,  [AV]) Yet, having a home of their own is not the only prospect.   After all, some today live in their own home, a few even in a mansion or on a grand estate.   But there is always the worry that the home can be lost through some financial reverses or that burglars—or worse—will break in. How different everything will be under God’s Kingdom rule!

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Monday]

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,  Ephesians 3:14 – 15  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Family. What does that word bring to your mind?   Warmth?   Happiness?   Working together toward a common goal?   A safe haven in which to grow, learn, and share ideas?   Likely it does if you are part of a caring family.   Almighty God (YHWH) himself is the Originator of the family. He purposed that all his creatures in heaven and on earth enjoy a sense of security, mutual trust, and genuine unity.   After they sinned, humans were no longer part of God’s universal family, but Almighty God’s (YHWH’s) purpose was not thwarted.   He will make sure that the Paradise earth will be fully inhabited with the offspring of Adam and Eve. (Gen. 1:28; Isa. 45:18)   He has made every preparation to fulfill this purpose.   A number of these arrangements are brought to our attention in the Bible book of Ephesians.  Understanding them will enable us to cooperate with Jehovah’s purpose to unite his creation.

Re: Scripture of the Day

Combination of the scripture of the day and the rare fruit trees and vegetables.    The Scripture of the Day being first.
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Tuesday]

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Ephesians 6:12 – 13  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Love for Almighty God (YHWH) moved us to dedicate ourselves to him.   Since then, many of us have proved for years that we are determined to keep our heart complete toward Almighty God (YHWH).    However, Satan has not given up on us.   Our heart is still his target.   Of course, he may realize that we will not simply abandon Almighty God (YHWH) abruptly.   Therefore, he slyly employs “this system of things” in an effort to weaken our heartfelt zeal for God gradually. (Mark 4:18, 19)   Why is that method of Satan so effective?    Because by his weakening our zeal ever so gradually, we are not aware of it.   Yes, the influences of Satan’s world may cause our zeal to diminish little by little.   If that happens, Satan has succeeded in reducing our heartfelt zeal for Jehovah’s service to something less. If not alert, a Christian may not even notice the gradual change.—Matt. 24:42; 1 Pet. 5:8.

rare fruit trees and vegetables:

Here is a Commentary on Bountiful Trees and Vegetables God (YHWH) has provided for mankind, specifically the Lovi Lovi, Flacourtia inermis (Batoko Plum) Plant.

The fruit is a shinny brilliant red berry crowned with a black top.

The tree is cultivated in South Eastern Asia for its fruit which varies greatly in taste whitish-pinkish flesh.  Most fruits are too acidic to be eaten raw, but they are often made into chutneys, puddings, and preserves – WITH THE SEED REMOVED.

The tree is often used as a decorative or shade tree.  Unfortunately there is very little literature on this tree.

In Genesis 1:11-13, "And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit-trees bearing fruit after their kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after their kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. (American Standard Version, ASV)

How this tree and other plants absorb water from the ground.   Plants have developed an effective system to absorb, translocate, store, and utilize water.  Plants contain a vast network of conduits, which consists of xylem and phloem tissues.  These conducting tissues start in the roots and continue up through the trunks of trees, into the branches and then into every leaf.  Phloem tissue is made of living elongated cells that are connected to one another and responsible for translocating nutrients and sugars (carbohydrates), which are produced by leaves for energy and growth.  The xylem is also composed of elongated cells but once the cells are formed, they die.  The walls of the xylem cells still remain intact and serve as an excellent peipline to transport water from the roots to the leaves.

The main driving force of water uptake and transport into a plant is transpiration of water from leaves through specialized openings called stomata.  Heat from the sun causes the water to evaporate, setting this ‘water chain’ in motion.  The evaporation creates a negative water vapor pressure.  Water is pulled into the leaf to replace the water that has transpired from the leaf.  This pulling of water, or tension, occurs in the xylem of the leaf.  Since the xylem is a continuous water column that extends from the leaf to the roots, this negative water pressure extends into the roots and results in water uptake from the soil.  [adapted from: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=follow-up-how-do-trees-ca ]

Clearly this clever water transport system shows a superior intelligence of the Creator (YHWH).

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Wednesday]

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.   Galatians 6:9  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Endurance is vital for a Christian today.   You will face trials, but Jehovah will help you.   Keep praying for holy spirit.   You will feel relief as he replaces grief with joy, anguish with peace. (Matt. 7:7-11)   No matter what pressures confront you, never go back, never give up.   What wonderful riches are ours because we are known by Almighty God (YHWH)!   Therefore, if you have recently come to know God and got baptized, what now?   Continue to get to know Almighty God (YHWH) better, growing to spiritual maturity.   And if you have been baptized for many years, what now?   You too must continue to deepen and broaden your knowledge of Almighty God (YHWH).   May we never become complacent in our relationship with him.   Instead, we should all check ourselves from time to time to ensure that we are continuing to grow in our relationship with our loving Father, Friend, and God—Jehovah.—2 Cor. 13:5, 6.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Thursday]

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.  16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:15 – 17  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Almighty God (YHWH)  placed the first man, Adam, in the garden of Eden, an earthly paradise filled with abundant wildlife and beautiful vegetation. There were fruit-bearing trees from which Adam could freely eat. However, Jehovah God clearly told Adam not to eat from one specific tree, warning Adam that if he did, he would die.

Did Adam understand that prohibition? He knew what death was; he had seen animals die.   If Adam were created to die eventually,   God’s warning would have had little meaning. Instead, Adam realized that if he obeyed God and did not eat from that tree, he would live on endlessly—he would not die.

Some believe that the tree symbolized sexual relations, but that could not be. After all, Jehovah wanted Adam and his wife, Eve, to “be fruitful and become many” and to “fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28) The prohibition applied to a real tree. Jehovah called it “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad” because it represented his right to determine what was good or bad for humans. By not eating the fruit of that tree, Adam would have shown not just his obedience but also his appreciation for the One who created him and who had blessed him so richly.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Friday]

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;  18  Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;  19  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.   Genesis 3:17 – 19   [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Adam ate from the tree that was forbidden to him.   That act of disobedience was not to be taken lightly.   It was rebellion, a flagrant disregard for all the good that Almighty God (YHWH)  had done for him. By eating that fruit, Adam rejected Almighty God (YHWH), choosing a course of independence, which would have catastrophic consequences.
Just as Almighty God (YHWH)  foretold, Adam eventually died. God had formed Adam “out of dust from the ground” and had told him that he would “return to the ground.” Adam did not live on in another form or in another realm. At death, he became as lifeless as the dust from which he had been formed.—Genesis 2:7; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10.   .

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY [Saturday]

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12 [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Adam’s disobedience—or sin—had far-reaching consequences. By sinning, Adam lost for himself, not just an ordinary life of 70 or 80 years, but life with the prospect of living forever. Moreover, when Adam sinned, he lost perfection and could only pass on imperfection to all his progeny.

We are all descendants of Adam. From him, through no choice of our own, we have inherited an imperfect body that is prone to sin and eventual death. Paul well described our plight. He wrote: “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.” (Romans 7:14, [AV]). Paul then answers his own question: “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”—(Romans 7: 24, 25, [AV]) .
