Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Thursday}

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.  Acts 24:15  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Who will be included in the group that Paul referred to as “the righteous”?   Consider an example. The faithful man Daniel was told toward the end of his life: “But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.” (Daniel 12:13,  [AV])   Where will Daniel awake from the sleep of death?   “The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.” (Psalm 37:29,  [AV])   And Jesus (Yeshua) foretold: “Happy are the mild-tempered, since they will inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5,,[AV])   Daniel and other faithful men and women will be raised to live on the earth once again, even eternally.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Friday]

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,  29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.  John 5:28 – 29  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Jesus (Yeshua) thus foretold the future time when, under the rule of his Kingdom, the Grave would be emptied.   Job expected that after his death Almighty God (YHWH)  would eventually restore him to life.  Job asked: “If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.  15  Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.” (Job 14:14, 15, [AV] ).

The resurrection was not a new thought to Lazarus’ sister Martha. After Lazarus died, Jesus (Yeshua) said to her: “…Thy brother shall rise again..”   Martha responded: “….I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” (John 11:23-25, [AV] ) Then Jesus (Yeshua) promptly raised Lazarus back to life!   That thrilling account gives us a preview of grander events in the future. Imagine such resurrections taking place on a global scale!

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Saturday]

He asked them: “What things?” They said to him: “The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene?, who proved to be a prophet powerful in deed and word before God and all the people;  Luke 24:19  [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]

Jesus was also “powerful in work.” (The Gospels report over 30 specific miracles performed by him—all per Luke 5:17, “On one of those days while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the Law who had come out of every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem were sitting there; and Jehovah’s power was with him to do healing.”  [NWTr]    Jesus’ miracles touched the lives of thousands. Just two miracles — the feeding of 5,000 men and later 4,000 men “besides women and young children”—involved crowds probably totaling some 20,000 people!—Matthew 14:13-21; 15:32-38.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Sunday]

And she made this vow: “O Jehovah of armies, if you look upon the affliction of your servant and remember me and you do not forget your servant and give to your servant a male child, I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and no razor will touch his head.”  1 Samuel 1:11  [New World Translation Revised: NWTr]

Nearly three hundred times in the Hebrew Scriptures and twice in the Christian Greek Scriptures, God is given the title “Jehovah of armies.”  Sovereign Ruler, Almighty God (YHWH) commands a vast army of angelic forces. (Joshua 5:13-15; 1 Kings 22:19) The destructive potential of this army is awesome. (Isaiah 37:36)   The destruction of humans is not pleasant to contemplate. However, we must remember that God’s wars are unlike petty human conflicts. Military and political leaders may try to attribute noble motives to their aggression. But human war invariably involves greed and selfishness.

In contrast, Almighty God (YHWH) is not driven by blind emotion.  Deuteronomy 32:4 declares: “The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice.  A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; Righteous and upright is he.” [NWTr]  God’s Word condemns unbridled rage, cruelty, and violence. (Genesis 49:7; Psalm 11:5) So Jehovah never acts without reason. He uses his destructive power sparingly and as a last resort. It is as he stated through his prophet Ezekiel: “‘Do I take any pleasure at all in the death of a wicked person?’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Do I not prefer that he turn away from his ways and keep living?’”—Ezekiel 18:23  [NWTr]   .

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Monday]

Because, a husband, is the head of his wife, as, the Christ also, is the head of the assembly, he, being the saviour of the body,  Nevertheless, as, the assembly, submitteth herself unto the Christ, so, the wives, unto their husbands, in everything:  Ephesians 5:23 – 24  [American Standard Version; ASV]

The Bible says that husbands should treat their wives in the same way that Jesus treats his disciples. In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies.   He who loves his wife loves himself, for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation.”—(Ephesians 5:25 – 29).

Jesus’ love for his congregation of disciples sets a perfect example for husbands.   Jesus “Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”  (John 13:1  [ASV]) sacrificing his life for them, even though they were far from perfect. (John  15:13) Similarly, husbands are urged: “Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.” (Colossians 3:19  [ASV])   What will help a husband to apply such counsel, especially if his wife at times fails to act with discretion? He should remember his own mistakes and what he must do to receive God’s forgiveness. What is that? He must forgive those who sin against him, and that includes his wife. Of course, she should do the same. (Matthew 6:12, 14, 15) Do you see why some have said that a successful marriage is the union of two good forgivers?

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Tuesday]

for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as Christ also the church;  Ephesians 5:29  [American Standard Version; ASV]

The Bible shows that a husband “who loves his wife loves himself.” This is because a man and his wife “So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.,” as Jesus pointed out at (Matthew 19:6  [ASV])   So they must limit their sexual interests to each other. (Proverbs 5:15-21; Hebrews 13:4) They can do this if they show unselfish concern for each other’s needs. (1 Corinthians 7:3-5) Noteworthy is the reminder: “for no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it”   Husbands need to love their wives as they do themselves, remembering that they are accountable to their own head, Jesus Christ.—Ephesians 5:29;1 Corinthians 11:3.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Wednesday]

And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.  Isaiah 25:6  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

To Jesus (Yeshua) people’s feelings are important and to his Father.   Neither Father nor Son is stingy.   Now imagine how Almighty God (YHWH)  will use his power generously in the new world to provide a rich banquet “for all the peoples” earth wide.   This compassion for others and the power that his Father, Almighty God (YHWH), had given him were first displayed at a wedding in Cana.  At a marriage feast in Cana of Galilee, Jesus performed his first miracle. The number of guests may have been greater than expected But whatever the case, the wine ran out.  Among the guests was Mary, Jesus’(Yeshua’s)  mother.   For years, she had no doubt pondered all the prophetic promises associated with her son, who she knew would be called “Son of the Most High.” (Luke 1:30-32; 2:52) Did she believe that in him there were powers not yet revealed?   What is evident is that at Cana, Mary and Jesus (Yeshua) felt compassion for the newly married couple and wanted to save them embarrassment. Jesus knew that hospitality was a duty.  So he miraculously turned some 100 gallons (380 L) of water into “fine wine.” Per John 2:3 – 11, “And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4  Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.  5  His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.  6  And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.  7  Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.  8  And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.  9  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,  10  And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.  11  This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”  [AV].

Was Jesus obligated to perform this miracle?   No. He simply cared about people and was imitating his heavenly Father by being generous.   Do you see what this miracle teaches us? That Jesus would willingly perform such a marvelous deed assures us that people’s feelings are important to him and to his Father. Neither Father nor Son is stingy. Now imagine how Almighty God (YHWH)  will use his power generously in the new world to provide a rich banquet “for all the peoples” earth wide.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Thursday]

Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.  Psalms 145:16  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

Reflecting his Father, ‘Christ, the power of God,’ frequently opened his hand and satisfied the desires of his followers.  His doing so was not merely an expression of power.  He was guided by his heartfelt concern for others.  This was clearly shown at Matthew 14,14 – 21, as follows,  “And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.  15  And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.  16  But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.  17  And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.  18  He said, Bring them hither to me.  19  And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.  20  And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.  21  And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.”  [AV] .    Not only may they, the apostles who weve with them, probably also themselves were hungry,  but they were concerned about the plight of the famished and weary crowd that had followed Jesus (Yeshua) on foot from the cities.

With five loaves and two fish, Jesus fed about 5,000 men, as well as women and children!   Are we not touched to think of the way Jesus (Yeshua) used his miraculous power to care compassionately for entire families, including the little ones?   The crowds “ate and were satisfied.” This suggests that there was an abundant supply of food.  Jesus kindly provided, not a mere taste of bread, but a meal that would sustain the crowds for their long journey back home.

Re: Scripture of the Day

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Friday]

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.  23  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.  24  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.  25  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:  26  While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.  27  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:  28  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:  29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:  30  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;  31  Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.  Proverbs 8:22 – 31  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

As can be seen, Almighty God (YHWH) used his only begotten Son, Jesus (Yeshua) in his pre-human spirit form as his master worker in creating all there is; therefore, Jesus (Yeshua) fully understands earth’s ecology. He knows how to use, manage, and distribute earth’s resources fairly and properly.

When on earth, Jesus (Yeshua) showed that he is “the power of God” by exercising control over the forces of nature.  Consider how Jesus dealt with a windstorm that appeared to threaten the lives of his disciples.  As recorded at Mark 4:37 – 39, “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.  38  And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?  39  And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” [AV].   As one Bible scholar notes: “The Greek word [for “windstorm” at Mark 4:37] is used for a furious storm or hurricane. It never refers to a single gust storm.”   This fact, is also made clear at Matthew 8:24, “And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. “

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – [Saturday]

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.  4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  Revelation 21:3 – 4  [authorized King James Bible; AV]

How reassuring it is to contemplate the awesome power of our Creator and his “master worker,” His Son, Jesus (Yeshua)  when their full attention is directed toward the earth for the 1,000 years, all people will dwell in security.   Terrifying natural disasters will be a thing of the past.   There will be no reason to fear being harmed by typhoons, tsunamis, volcanoes, or earthquakes in this new world. How wonderful it is to think of the time when no natural forces will kill or maim.  We can be assured that the power of God exercised through Christ will control the forces of nature during the Millennium.
